What it answers

Search the whole CarRentalList catalog with one query: rental companies, car model families (Lamborghini Huracán, Rolls-Royce Cullinan…), cities and news articles.

Returns ids to pass to fetch, with titles and carrentallist.com urls.

Use this when a client only offers search and fetch (ChatGPT connectors, deep research), or to find an entity by name before fetching it.

For filtered car lists (price, state, class) search_vehicles is better.

No match returns an empty results list.

Limits

Read-only: it never books, changes or stores anything (annotations readOnlyHint, idempotentHint).
The Markdown text is capped at 8 KB; the structured result keeps every item.
10 s per call; 600 messages per minute per IP address.
Results are cached for 5 minutes and carry as_of, the date of the catalog's last change.
Prices are the daily rates companies publish; a car without one has daily_price null ("Contact for price"), never an estimate.
